Do I need an external sensor?

No, Equilab only requires the GPS and sensors in your mobile device to track your trainings, including your gaits while riding. (For Premium users riding with their Apple Watch standalone without a phone, gaits are not recorded, given that the watch does not have the necessary sensors to detect gaits.)

You can learn more about how Equilab works by reading about how Equilab measures gaits and where to keep your phone while riding.

Equilab does not offer any physical sensors. Our integration with Polar, however, allows our Premium users to monitor their horses' heart rates in real time while tracking their rides.

The Polar integration is currently available only for iPhones and H10 sensors.

** Using the Polar sensors is completely optional, and it is not a requirement in order to use the ride tracking feature of the app.
