iPhones - Preventing Interrupted Trainings

Modified on Fri, 3 Jan at 2:20 PM

Equilab is constantlly collecting and processing data while tracking your ride, which requires both battery and processing capacity from your device. To help maintain battery life and processing capacity, your iPhone may close Equilab if the app is running continuously.

You can help prevent your phone from closing the app unexpectedly by taking the steps listed below:

  1. Ensure that Low Power Mode is disabled while tracking
  2. Kill other apps before you start tracking (this is especially important for other GPS-based tracking apps).
  3. Keep your phone locked (screen off/dark) while riding
    • If you need to open your phone, avoid using the map screen when possible. Keeping Equilab on the training stats screen (that shows time, distance, speed, and gaits) requires less battery
  4. (If the above don't work) Enable Airplane Mode on your phone before you start racking (it won't impact your tracking)
    • Note that doing so will pause any inbound/outbound messages, notifications, or calls. You can turn airplane mode on and off during your ride to check for messages without impacting Equilab's tracking
