Android (Wear OS) Watches

Equilab is compatible with supported Wear OS smartwatches, allowing you to start and stop rides, view your ride stats, and, with Equilab Premium, even track rides without bringing your phone.

Compatible watches

Equilab supports compatible watches running Wear OS, including many models from:

• Google Pixel Watch (all models)
• Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and newer
• OnePlus Watch 2 and newer
• Xiaomi Watch 2 and Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro
• Other Wear OS watches

Please note: To connect the watch to your Equilab account, you need an Android phone with the Equilab app. Watches that don't run Wear OS are not supported. This includes Garmin, Fitbit, Huawei, Amazfit and older Samsung models (Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Watch Active 2 and earlier).

Setup

To use Equilab with your Wear OS watch:

1. Install the Equilab app on your Android phone and log in
2. Install the Equilab app on your Wear OS watch
   • Open the Google Play Store on your smartwatch → search for Equilab → tap "Install"
3. Open Equilab on both your phone and your watch

Once connected, you're ready to start tracking rides from your watch.

Usage

After setting up your watch, there are two ways to use it.

• Remote mode: available to all users and requires you to bring your phone while riding. In this mode, you can:
  • Start and stop ride tracking directly from your watch

  • View your live ride stats including time, distance, average speed

  • Swipe right to view your horse's gaits in real time while riding

  • See when Safety Tracking is active (Premium feature)

• Standalone mode: available only on the Premium plan. It lets you track rides using only your watch, so you can leave your phone at the stable

  • Your phone is not required during the ride

  • Time, distance, average speed, and your route are recorded

  • Gaits are not tracked or displayed

  • Safety Tracking is not available

To enable Standalone mode, open the Equilab app on your phone, go to Profile → Settings, and turn on     Standalone mode.

When you finish a Standalone ride, keep the Equilab app open on your watch until the ride has finished uploading. If your watch has an internet connection, the upload will happen automatically. Otherwise, the ride will upload the next time your watch reconnects to your phone.

Editing your ride

To add notes, select a horse, change the ground type, or make other edits, open the ride in the Equilab app on your phone and then press Edit in the training view.

Preventing the app from closing automatically

To ensure your ride is tracked correctly, make sure the Equilab app is allowed to run in the background on your watch. If the operating system closes the app while you're riding, tracking will stop.

Depending on your watch manufacturer, you may also need to disable battery optimization for Equilab.
